For centuries, Easter bakes have been used to celebrate this most important Christian holiday. Enter the fun and delicious cake pop — perfect for your next Easter celebration. Here you’ll find the most delicious ideas for easter cake pops in different categories.

Cake pops were first popularized by a now famous baking blogger in 2008. They’ve since taken the world by storm. What makes Easter cake pops a particularly good idea is their versatility.

You can easily make a range of different flavors and styles, and there are even gluten free and vegan alternatives so you can cater for all the family.

In this article we’ll explore the best Easter cake pop ideas and designs, recipe ideas, and what else you can make besides cake pops.

Best Ideas for Easter Cake Pops

Best Ideas for Easter Cake Pops

There are plenty of creative ideas for making beautiful, scrumptious cake pops. Here are some of the most unusual ones that will make for a unique gift or treat at your next Easter celebrations.

From simple Easter egg cake pops to elaborate carrots and faith-filled cross themed ones, we’ve got you covered with all the best designs.

Easter Egg Cake Pops

Easter Egg Cake Pops

Easter egg cake pops may look daunting or tricky when you see them online or in magazines, but really, they’re very simple to replicate.

All you need to do is shape your cake pop balls into eggs rather than spheres, then let them set in the fridge exactly as you normally would.

We love these perfectly smoothed then coated in pastel candy melts — think soft hues of baby blue and violet. You can decorate each ‘egg’ pop as you would a regular Easter egg and have your kids help.

Alternatively, keep them super simple and elegant and serve alongside decorative Spring florals and soft grasses.

Easter Bunny Cake Pops

Easter Bunny Cake Pops

What would Easter be without some cute little Easter bunnies? We like our Easter bunny cake pops coated in pure white candy melts with little pastel pink and white ears attached.

Add little faces using pale pink and black icing. Decorate each lollipop stick with a cute bow (a bow tie for your bunny.)

Top tip: why not make different ‘fillings’ and match the bow colors to the type of cake inside each bunny rabbit? Red for chocolate, yellow for vanilla, and orange for carrot cake, for example.

Funny Bunny Bum Cake Pops

Funny Bunny Bum Cake Pops

These are hilarious and so cute that even grandma won’t take offense at the little ‘butts.’ First, make simple round cake pops and coat them in white or brown candy melt mixture.

Next, once they’ve almost set, add readymade foot prints to each bunny bum, and top with a cute candy bunny tail.

Store Bought candies to match the color of your bunnies work beautifully for this. Finally, serve in cups of fluffy Easter grass for added effect.

Easter Carrot Cake Pops

Easter Carrot Cake Pops

Carrot cake pops are particularly cute and unique — you won’t see these everywhere. There are two varieties we like, and both start with carrot cake.

Either form each ‘carrot’ into cute, stubby little shapes and set in the fridge, or shape them into longer, more realistic carrots.

The former will look great coated with orange candy melt mixture, decorated with green frosting ‘hair’ and cute cartoonish icing faces.

These will stand up on their lollipop sticks as you’d normally expect. The latter should be dipped in orange candy melt mixture and laid down horizontally on Easter grass, to look like farm-fresh carrots.

Beautiful Cross Easter Cake Pops

Beautiful Cross Easter Cake Pops

Easter is, after all, about Jesus and his resurrection. We like these more subtle, faith-filled cake pops that are a perfect celebration of the holiday of Easter.

Our favorites are coated using simple white candy melts. Little crosses are then added using fondant paste. Pastel colors or soft gold and silver crosses look best, in our opinion.

These make a wonderful addition to your post-mass Easter table and are sure to be loved by all of your guests.

Cute Easter Cake Pops

Cute Easter Cake Pops

Whether you’re hosting kids for your Easter party or want a sweet treat to make with their help, these cake pops should be cute and simple to make.

Here are our favorite ideas for cute Easter cake pops that look lovely but don’t take professional training in cake artistry to make at home. Trust us.

Easter Chick Cake Pops

Easter Chick Cake Pops

Nothing says Easter quite like chubby, yellow little chickies. These are so easy to make, and you can easily decorate them with kids.

To prep, just make regular cake pops and coat using yellow-colored candy melts.

Once these have fully set, let your children decorate each using edible food coloring markers and/or orange and yellow icing for beaks, feet, and stubby little wings.

We think the best chick ‘pops are all body round chickens, because they just look so cute and funny.

Spring Flowers and Bees Cake Pops

Spring Flowers and Bees Cake Pops

These are a little more elaborate and tricky than the Easter chickies, but absolutely worth making.

We actually like to take a shortcut here and simply start with yellow-coated round cake pops for the bees and brown-coated (using candy melts or milk chocolate) ones for the flowers, to resemble soil.

For added effect, fill the bee melts with honey-flavored cake sponge and the ‘flowers’ with chocolate cake.

Decorate your bees with little wafer chunks for wings and dark brown icing for the stripes and little bee faces. Decorate the flower pops with large, colorful icing flowers.

You can buy these readymade or pipe them on, depending on your preference. Kids will enjoy coming up with different faces and expressions for the bees, and elaborate flower designs. Simplicity for the base pops is key here to still create a simple, elegant(ish) design.

Simple Easter Cake Pops

Simple Easter Cake Pops

Sometimes the simplest designs are the best. This goes for cake pops as well, and it’s why we like easy, elegant decorations that are quickly done yet bring a lot of effect.

Below are our favorite simple Easter cake pop designs for when you just need something speedy yet pretty to craft to give your dessert table that final touch.

Easter Egg Nest Cake Pops

Easter Egg Nest Cake Pops

Easter egg nest cake pops look so clever, but they’re honestly some of the easiest you could possibly make. Best of all, you don’t even need to make your ‘pops perfectly round — just dent the tops lightly when shaping them.

Once they’ve set in the fridge, dip them into bittersweet chocolate or dark brown candy melt mixture and coat in equally dark chocolate sprinkles.

Add some miniature chocolate eggs into each ‘nest’ and you’re done. So easy, yet so effective.

Pastel Color Cake Pops for Easter

Pastel Color Cake Pops for Easter

Pastel-colored cake pops are great for Easter, but they also work well for any Spring party and even baby and bridal showers.

We like them filled with sumptuous vanilla cake and coated in different hues of pastel candy melts. Finish with a few multi-colored sprinkles or soft drizzles of white icing for an elegant, easy-to-make treat.

Top tip: use white lollipop sticks or striped, pastel-colored ones to match the different shades of the cake pops.

How to Make Easter Cake Pops At Home: A Simple Recipe

How to Make Easter Cake Pops At Home: A Simple Recipe

Half the battle, when it comes to any kind of bake, is having the correct recipe. Our cake pop recipe uses simple ingredients and isn’t overly complicated when it comes to the process either.

Use it for any of the design ideas above, and enjoy the scrumptious flavors and beautiful texture of this mix. This is what you’ll need.

For the cake pops:

  • 1 and ⅔ cups of all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp of baking powder
  • ¼ tsp of baking soda
  • ½ cup of salted butter
  • 1 cup of granulated sugar (light brown sugar is good as well)
  • 1 large egg (at room temperature)
  • 2 tsps of vanilla extract
  • 1 cup of whole milk

For the frosting:

  • 7 tbsps of unsalted butter (at room temperature)
  • 1 and ¾ cups of icing sugar
  • 2-3 tsps of heavy cream
  • 1 tsp of pure vanilla extract

For the coating:

  • 24 oz of candy melts

Anything else:

  • lollipop sticks
  • an upside down box or styrofoam block for standing your cake pops in to set
  • optional sprinkles and decorations

The Recipe Step-By-Step

The Recipe Step-By-Step

Here you’ll find the whole recipe step by step.

1. Preheat your oven to 350 F and prepare a 9” springform cake tin by greasing it with butter.

2. Whisk together your dry ingredients first, including the flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Next, in a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients.

Start by beating together the butter and sugar until creamy and pale in color. Add in the egg and vanilla extract, and continue to whisk until fully combined.

3. Mix all of the ingredients together from both bowls, and scrape into your prepared cake tin. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick or fork comes out clean. Cool to room temperature.

4. Meanwhile, whip up the frosting by creaming the butter, then adding the sugar, heavy cream, and your vanilla extract. Crumble the cooled cake into your frosting and mix until there are no more large lumps.

5. Scoop a tablespoon at a time of your mixture out of the bowl and mold into a ball shape. Set all of the balls on a lined baking tray and chill in the fridge for around 2 hours.

6. Prepare your candy melts per the package instructions and dip your lollipop sticks into it. Quickly insert each lollipop stick into the cake pop balls.

Once they’ve set, you can coat each cake pop by dipping it into the candy melt mixture (you may need to re-melt it), then sit in the upside down box or styrofoam. The coating will set in around an hour. Follow our design ideas above to decorate as you wish. And above all, enjoy.

Tips for Making Easter Cake Pops

Tips for Making Easter Cake Pops

As you can see, making Easter cake pops needn’t be complicated and can actually be fairly easy. Some added tips will ensure a smooth baking and decorating process every time. So you can enjoy making something special for Easter without any added stress.

Get a Cake Pop Roller

Get a Cake Pop Roller

A cake pop roller is a helpful tool if you’re planning on making many cake pops at the same time. It can help you create evenly-sized, perfectly smooth cake pop balls.

You don’t necessarily need it if you’re planning on only making a few cake pops for Easter, but if you’re catering for all the family or even planning on selling some, it’s a vital little gadget.

With that said, it won’t help you with the carrot-shaped or egg-shaped Easter ‘pops, so bear that in mind.

Make them Vegan and Gluten Free

Make them Vegan and Gluten Free

Did you know that you can easily make cake pops without needing to bake anything? Some vegan and gluten free recipes just require a few ingredients and only need around 30 minutes in the fridge to set before you can coat them.

We like a mixture of almond flour (don’t use almond meal, which is more coarse), coconut flour, maple syrup, vegan butter, some sea salt, and vanilla extract.

The maple syrup adds a lovely flavor that isn’t overly sweet. Use as you would any regular recipe to make your favorite cake pop designs.

Use Candy Melts

Use Candy Melts

Candy melts are generally easier to melt, don’t need to be tempered, and will result in a smoother, thinner coating than, for example, chocolate chips.

We also like that they come in plenty of different colors, so you can use them to make any of our Easter cake pop designs above.

Top tip: dip your lollipop sticks in the candy melt mixture before putting them into your ‘pops. Once they’ve set, they’ll stay put more solidly than if you’d just added the lollipop sticks by themselves.

Alternatives to Easter Cake Pops

Alternatives to Easter Cake Pops

Don’t love cake pops? Want more than ‘just’ cake pops on your Easter buffet table? Here are some excellent alternatives if you’re unsure of what else you can make.

These are just as fun as cake pops, but with fun twists to bring something a little bit different to your guests.

Easter Bunny Cupcakes

Easter Bunny Cupcakes

Easter bunny cupcakes are so cute yet easy to make. You can either make little bunny faces or take note of our bunny bum ‘pops above, and add chocolate bunny ‘butts’ to your cupcakes, sticking out with little candy feet and tails.

Either way, your favorite carrot cake-style cupcake recipe will work best for these. If you’re making the bunny faces, frost each cooled cupcake liberally with creamy white vanilla frosting.

Then add candy ears, eyes, and noses, which you can buy ahead of time from your favorite home bakery supply shop.

Easter Egg Cookies

Easter Egg Cookies

Easter egg cookies are the easiest to make and look really fun. We like using our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe but substitute half of the chips with colorful mini Easter eggs.

This makes for gooey, chocolatey cookies that are fun, colorful, and delicious. They’re also so simple to bake and make for a great little craft project with kids.

Easter Lamb Cake

Easter Lamb Cake

Easter lamb cakes represent Jesus Christ as the lamb of God. These make showstopping pieces for your Easter dessert table.

Polish and German families frequently seem to make them, and this is allegedly where this style of cake originated.

It’s a popular treat in modern America, too. A slight word of warning: we recommend you buy a lamb cake tin before you try to make this, and avoid getting too elaborate with the facial features of your ‘lamb.’

A quick google will tell you just why. With that said, Easter lamb cakes, when done well, are very cute and special. A great sponge filling will forgive a lot of your less artistic ‘issues’, too.
