Prize Winning Shortbread Cookies – A Giveaway

Before you think that this "book thing" is knocking me silly on zee head that I should post "just" about shortbread cookies, I want to tell you about the little gadget that makes cookies a lot more fun….and your chance to WIN IT !!!

One of my little pleasures is to read French blogs, for the recipes as much as keeping in touch with food trends there and more importantly what is the cool slang to use these days. One late (late) night I was reading away I stumbled on a post (can’t remember where, sorry) about this ubber cool toy: the Brigitte-Keks, to imprint on Petit Beurre like cookies.

Allright I have lost you…all that French, English and German in one. Petit Beurre are the simplest most traditional all butter cookie you will find in France. The Brigitte -Keks is one smart cutter that not only will cut to almost the exact shape as a Petit Beurre but will also imprint words like these: WIN ME !!

So there I was….wishing away I could get my hands on one of those. A couple of days later, I was reading Autour De Ma Table where Cathy was organizing a group order to the manufacturer since they are not everywhere. Light Bulb! Call mom, put my name in the order and ask mom to write up the check in the proper Euro amount and tell her I will pay her back 10 times over in kisses, that was a joke because the gadget is really not expensive. Then it just dawned on me that one of you guys might also want to have fun with one of these, so I called mom again and she was happy to help as it meant that I shall pay her back 20 times over now!

You can imprint anything and everything, you can be silly or serious, creative or to the point. We have been having fun playing with it the other day, leaving love notes, to do lists, grocery lists…Imagine that, walking down the store aisles, munching away on your grocery list. I also added "Happy Anniversary" cookies to the loot as B. and I are celebrating 10 years together today! Woohoo! The cutter and imprint are a breeze to use after you separate the little letters apart from their grid. Maybe I should have done so with butter free hands, eh?!! So long story short…

I have one extra – brand spanking – new Brigitte-Keks cookie cutter/imprint for one lucky reader. All you have to do to take this little toy home is to leave a comment between today Friday July 11th and Sunday July 13th (and why not tell me about your favorite cookie while you are at it). You can enter from anywhere in the world, and I will ship anywhere. No rules, just a couple of requests:
– please, please, please, even if you register your comment under anonymous, leave me an initial, a pseudonym, an X…anything. It’s nicer to announce if you win!
– try not to enter twice, it makes it easier for the random drawing
– Mom: you can’t enter the drawing, I’ll make you some cookies with your name on it.

Before I forget, I have tried many versions of Petits Beurre recipes but none that came close to the original so I am giving you my next favorite cookie recipe for Shortbread Cookies. They are not like the Irish shortbread cookies you might purchase at the grocery store, but more like "sables" from Brittany. Use orage flower water for a Provencal twist!

1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
1 stick butter, at room temperature
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp baking powder

In a stand mixer or with hand held electric mixers beat together the butter and sugar until pale and creamy. Add the egg yolk and beat until well incorporated. Add the vanilla extract, flour, baking powder and salt and mix until the dough just starts to come together and form a ball. Stop the mixer and gather the dough with your hands. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for a least 2 hours. Flour your work area lightly and start rolling.

To roll dough easily (works with pretty much all pastry dough) : start from the center and roll away from you, then close to you, repeat, lift the dough, flour your area, rotate the dough 1/4 turn and repeat the rolling process. Make sure to sprinkle the flour you work with, not dump it on. A little goes a long way. I usually sprinkle about one teaspoon and brush it away with my fingertips and repeat as a go along. If you try to roll the dough flat in the minimum of moves possible and you keep rolling away, you will warm up the butter too much and the dough will stick and you’ll get mad and you’ll swear off making dough forever…..

So I hope this helps because your homework when the book comes out is to make dough….! Ok, that’s not true but there will be some dough to get rolled!

Anyways…Once your dough is rolled to about 1/2 inch thick, and cut squares or rectangles with a sharp knife or other shapes with the cookie cutter that you like. Transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 350 for 10 minutes. Let cool on wire rack.

I love this cookie type writer. Imagine the possibilities … I could write "i’m sorry" notes for my family and they could never get mad because at least they get a cookie. Brilliant.

I love chocolate cherry cookies & thin oatmeal crisp cookies. I also LOVE pecan shortbread.

Ms SnS July 11, 2008 um 5:24 am

It’s a bit hard to single out one cookie as the best, but something buttery like shortbread, but with lemon or orange infused.

Now I need to eat all the other cookies, so no one feels left out!

Sarah July 11, 2008 um 5:34 am

How cool! My daughter is a recently diagnosed Celiac, and so we haven’t quite worked out our favorite gluten free cookies yet, but I can tell you that any cookie with her name imprinted on it would rock her world (she’s 5).

Hyejung July 11, 2008 um 5:35 am

Happy aniversary! I love Petit Beurre cookies, but ginger snaps are my current favorite. Thanks for the shortbread recipe and running this lovely giveaway 🙂

Laurie July 11, 2008 um 5:37 am

these cookies look do great. I would love to make cookies with it. The cookies my son recently made were shortbread with orange peel, dipped in chocolate were so fabulous.

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 5:43 am

Wow, those cookies look yummy! My favorite cookies are chocolate chip, second favorite are stroopwafels. =)

Lauren July 11, 2008 um 5:49 am

I love the le petit beure cookies! I am such a fan of the french biscuit cookie that I even do my best to peal the chocolate off of the Le Petit Ecoliers so I can enjoy just the biscuit. I haven’t found the plain cookies in the store lately so had to settle for removing the chocolate myself. My favorite cookies lately were a pecan shortbread crumble bar cookie with strawberry jam in the middle. Not too sweet and just enough flavor.

Congrats on your anniversary and great work with the awesome cookie cutter!!!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 5:49 am

Fabulous and fun – all in one! Lately, I’ve been loving reading a whole bunch of different blogs (including yours of course). I have been wanting to actually start doing more baking of my own and I think this entry has given me the inspiration to do so. Thank you Thank you Thank you Thank you

Oh and my favorite cookie is the chocolate crinkle – the one that you dip in powdered sugar before baking and they look like little snow balls. Yum yum – Denise

Talyn July 11, 2008 um 5:54 am

Plain old chocolate chip would have to be my favorite.

kimberly salem July 11, 2008 um 6:01 am

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:11 am

I’m such an American. My favorite is the Tollhouse Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe because that’s the recipe my brother and I used to make with my grandmother when we baked with her as kids. It’s just so hard to beat the added ingredient of Gramma’s love.

Emily July 11, 2008 um 6:12 am

Me me me!

I like good ol' chocolate chip, but moure gourmet. With like, browned butter, sea salt and dark chocolate.

Your blueberry swirl ice cream looks yummy!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:14 am

what a cool idea, cute cookie typewriter. I love it. My fave cookie is also stroopwafels…

Ammy Lea July 11, 2008 um 6:15 am

oh my god! THAT IS SO CUTE!

I’ve had a recently found love of shortbread, I think I’ll be making this one this weekend….

CupcakeLuvr July 11, 2008 um 6:15 am

If I had to choose just one cookie, it would be my mom’s chocolate chip cookies. She uses a combination of semisweet and milk chocolate chips, so I get the best of both worlds all in one bite!

kristina July 11, 2008 um 6:16 am

Oooh–I love Petit Beurre–and this cutter is so wonderful! Please do enter me in the draw.

My favorite cookie is the Walnut Biscuits (Cookies) from Linda Collister’s Baking Bible.

And Happy Anniversary! My husband and I are celebrating our anniversary this weekend too! K x

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 6:24 am

Oh, how I would love to win this, my sweet Tartelette! The first thing I would do is bake up a batch of that sweet, buttery cookie and send a love message to work in my hubby’s lunchbag.

Jazz July 11, 2008 um 6:27 am

Oh my gosh!! I saw those before the last time I went to Europe and have lusted after them ever since. They’re like those shortbread molds but more versatile 😀 Count me in!

Oh, and my favorite cookie…too hard to decide? But before I think of another one, I love love love me those korova cookies (I know, how typical :p).

Anita (Married… with dinner) July 11, 2008 um 6:29 am

oh, sooo adorable!

I’m not much ito cookies (although I would definitly make them a LOT if I win the raffle!) but I do like shortbread. Luckily Cameron makes a very, very good recipe.

And happy anniversary to you both!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:29 am

The cutter looks like so much FUN!!!! Lemon shortbread cookies would be great with it, but my favorite cookie right now is dark chocolate with walnuts and chocolate chips!

mimi July 11, 2008 um 6:35 am

first, happy anniversary! second, love that cookie cutter! it’s like magnetic poetry, but for cookies. oh yeah, i’d have to say biscotti is my favorite. but if i won this, i would make a whole batch of breton biscuits. yuummm!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 6:38 am

Thank you so much for offering this as a giveaway Helen! I have been on a mission to learn new cookie recipes for a while now, my current favorite to make are macarons (thanks to your expert tutelage). My dh thinks you’re great because I would never have tried them without your help. Mysteriously, every time I make a batch they disappear within a day or two…

Unfortunately, I don’t particularly like chocolate, so I love to see recipes for shortbreads and other non-chocolate cookies. I’ll definitely be trying your latest recipe. I think my favorite cookie is a simple raspberry thumbprint, but it’s hard to choose just one!!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 6:42 am

I would so love the win the cookie cutter. But in case I didn’t, could you help me to purchase it and send it over to singapore? I can pay you.

Guess my favourite cookie would be gingersnaps. Never in my life I would thought it will become my favourite. Cause the idea of ginger and cookies doesn’t seems to flow for me. But on my first try, I couldn’t stop at one. I have a wonderful recipe for it. I can email you the recipe if you want. =)

Summer (designismine) July 11, 2008 um 6:44 am

Oh my, this is so adorable. I hate to be generic, but to me, few things can really compare to the classic chocolate chip cookie. I have made countless flavors and types of other kinds, but I always seem to go back to the chocolate chip cookie when my sweet tooth is really calling.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:49 am

Wow, I’m impressed! Who invents these things? Neat gadget to have.

spicyicecream July 11, 2008 um 6:58 am

I can just imagine making cookies with Eat Me on them, like Alice In Wonderland 😀 (if only eating cookies would make me grow taller!)

My favourite cookie would have to be almond biscotti I think. Do macarons count as cookies??

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:00 am

Wow, what a cute (and fun!) cutter. Imagine the possibilities!
My favorite cookie… that’s a hard one… probably my mum’s cashew crisps. But I’m always game for a chocolate chip cookie! Anytime.

Erilyn July 11, 2008 um 7:11 am

That cookie cutter looks like something on someone’s blog made from fabric (zero calories!). It does look much better knowing that you can eat them though.
My favourite biscuits are my Grandmother’s 'Bonzers' which are very much like shortbread – I could give you the recipe but then again … perhaps not. There has to be something to leave as an inheritance 🙂

Mary July 11, 2008 um 7:30 am

What an awesome little cutter! I totally hope I win! My favorite cookie is peanut butter, but I am a big fan of shortbread too. (and I love the idea of chomping my way through the grocery list!)

Happy Anniversary!

Rachel July 11, 2008 um 7:37 am

Wow those cutters are something that I would want 🙂

My fav cookies are the plain butter cookies with a sprinkling of powdered sugar..

jan July 11, 2008 um 7:39 am

this is the cutest thing ever! and happy anniversary. 10 years. wow. 🙂

and personally, if it’s done right and piping hot from the oven, there’s no going wrong with a chocolate chip cookie.

which reminds me, everyone should check nytimes.com dining section –> apparently, the perfect chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Nina Timm July 11, 2008 um 7:49 am

Oh wow, how amazing is this nifty little tool. I’d just love to have one. My favorite cookie is a plain butter cookie with caraway seeds.

The Bon July 11, 2008 um 7:54 am

Happy Anniversary!

My favorite cookie? Plain old soft, chewy chocolate chip.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:59 am

How gorgeous, I love this! My favourite cookie would have to be the good ol' choc chip cookie, although I love to add hazelnuts to my Grandma’s classic recipe – a favourite with my school mates!

Rebecca July 11, 2008 um 8:00 am

These are so fantastic. I love the idea of Happy Anniversary cookies (and congratulations on 10 years). I think I’d get so engrossed in writing messages that all other types of cookie would get left behind!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 8:39 am

That is adorable! I have not made shortbread cookies, but this would be a perfect excuse to! Personally, my favorite cookies are snickerdoodles. 😀

Peabody July 11, 2008 um 8:44 am

Oh my, how sad I will be if I don’t win since I can not go and get one for myself! So cute.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 9:11 am

Oh my that is such a cute idea, i just love it…never acutally seen anything like it before. It would be perfect for my wedding reception in october – to print out our names on the cookies… That would be so amazing… I’d love to win!

Oh sorry…I forgot to tell you about my favorite cookie – it is chocolate chip cookies – i can’t get enough of them… I usually make them with white and milk chocolate morsels and peanuts. Yummy…

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 9:47 am

oh this is great!
i’ve been reading you for a while. 😀
i’d loooove to win this!

Ryane.
P.S i stay in SINGAPORE however!!
😀 please continue having fun!

Christy July 11, 2008 um 10:23 am

Helen, that little snazzy device is soo cool!! I’ve done that sort of custom print before on my shortbread cookies, but had to get a rubber stamp made specially for that purpose–this is waaaay better. Also, I notice that the edges of the letters appear sharper on this one than on the ones I made using my plain ol' rubber stamp. Plus you can customize and the shapes come out neater and nicer!! What a fabulous find!! Sigh…I wish I spoke French…

Congratulations to you and Mr. Tartelette on being 10 years together! That’s really something these days..I don’t think I have a favourite cookie yet—I can’t believe it!! Thank you for reminding me; I shall go on a cookie-buying spree soon!!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 10:26 am

Wow. Looks nice. 🙂
My favourite cookies are just simple, soft chocolate cookies… mmmm.

Lexi July 11, 2008 um 10:30 am

Happy anniversary to the both of you!

My favorite cookie by long and far is homemade chocolate chip cookies. Nice and chewy, I’m not a crunchy kid of gal. 😉

A. July 11, 2008 um 10:44 am

This is the best cookie cutter I’ve ever seen!
😀

p.s. Happy 10th Anniversary!!!!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 10:46 am

That’s the most adorable thing ever! My favorite cookie, if I have to choose, is brown sugar shortbread. Or maybe buttermilk cookies. But I love chocolate chip, too. I guess I’m a fickle cookie lover.

Lucie July 11, 2008 um 10:57 am

oh yes, I had heard about it!! un petit gadget comme on les aime!
Favorite cookie: chocolate chips/Macadamia nuts…

Di July 11, 2008 um 10:58 am

Happy anniversary! That is a really cool gadget–I can just imagine baking cookies with my 5yo with that. =) I have a hard time picking a favorite cookie, but I think I have to go with chocolate-chocolate chip.

Karolina Beaudet July 11, 2008 um 11:01 am

Oh wow, I’m impressed about the amount of comments. I guess there’s no chance this cute little gadget goes to me… Still I wish you happy anniversary!!! Oh and by the way, Pettit Beurre cookies are very popular in Poland too, I always use them instead of digestive cookies to make cheesecake crust, delicious !!!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:03 am

ohhhh very cool! petit beurres were my grandmother’s favorite!!i have too many cookies that i enjoy! always have to get a white chocolate macademia from mrs. field’s at the mall, but right now, i am craving more than anything is a sugar cookie with some frosting on top!! (really it’s just too early to be thinking of cookies!!)

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:05 am

Happy Anniversary to you both Tartelette! That is the cutest kitchen gadget I have ever seen. Thanks for the shortbread cookie recipe, one of my favorites. But my very favorite cookie is my grandmother’s Sour Cream Twist Cookie. A yeast dough, rolled like a puff pastry but with granulated sugar, cut twisted then baked. The result is a light cookie with a caramelized sugar bottom. It is the only cookie my daughters want me to ship to them at Xmas, and they are poor sharers when they have them.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:06 am

world peace cookies are my current favourite 🙂

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:12 am

I love trying your recipes, or using them as a springboard to my own variation. My favorite cookie changes with the seasons – at the moment it’s a family recipe, Mrs. T’s Sour Cream cookies – which are soft, light cookies, but your Pistachio-Cocoa Nib cookies are a permanent contender.

Lauren July 11, 2008 um 11:29 am

That gadget is so cute!!! My favorite cookie is . . . well it is hard to have a favorite, but I guess mexican wedding cakes!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:32 am

That is the coolest thing I’ve seen in a long time. Wow!

My favourite cookies aren’t really cookies so much… but I do love palmiers! 🙂

kel @ sweet treats July 11, 2008 um 11:43 am

Double choc chip for this chocaholic!

Kel 🙂

jessicajlee July 11, 2008 um 11:48 am

That would look fantastic with my little 'family recipe' shortbread cookies…

It would be a great change from jam-filled hearts.

A Chocoholic Lives Here… July 11, 2008 um 11:50 am

My favourites used to be Chocolate, but I am having a love affair with dry almond biscuits (biscotti or otherwise) and a nice mug of coffee. It just rounds off the day nicely to muse over those! I am a big fan of shortbread too though!

Caroline July 11, 2008 um 12:00 pm

I love all kinds of cookies. But my favorite has got to be Dorie Greenspan’s world peace cookies (aka Korova).

Bria July 11, 2008 um 12:10 pm

I absolutely love biscuits shaped like that! Especially if you can personalise them! My favourite biscuit is just plain old shortbread… though choc chip comes in close behind.

Koren July 11, 2008 um 12:11 pm

chocolate chip

Lori July 11, 2008 um 12:16 pm

I think I am moving to France. A bunch of really smart, clever, foodies live over there.

Very cute!

Varina July 11, 2008 um 12:17 pm

My favorites are actually shortbread cookies, although petits écoliers are pretty great. Oh, and cowboy cookies (peanut butter, oatmeal, chocolate chip, m&m, pecan, and maybe coconut)!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 12:33 pm

Oh, I wish I had one right now, as I am preparing a baby shower this Sunday! Wouldn’t those be lovely with the baby’s name on each cookie? What fun!

Becksy

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 12:42 pm

Pick one? I can’t I love all of them….

I like oatmeal a bunch, with alternative fruit inside. Dates, dired mangos, dired dragonfruit, figs, cherries, cranberries, kitchen sink

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 12:43 pm

This is right up my alley, I love love it! My favorite cookie sugar cookies. My anniversary is Monday, so winning this would be the perfect gift. 😉

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 12:50 pm

mmmmmmmm…Has to be chocolate chip cookies but I love shortbread too. This tool would be too fun!

Gigi July 11, 2008 um 1:00 pm

OMG….I read all the posts knowing which cookie is my favorite, then agreeing with everyone. So, whatever is homemade… My husbands favorite is an oatmeal, raisin, date, pecan – mine is windmill (made with the cute mold), jumbles, biscotti, kolachy, etc.
THis would be so fun to make and send to my grandkids with their names on it. Also my son is getting married, would be great for shower gifts, reception.. Love it.
Thanks for the fun offer
Geri

MPWayout July 11, 2008 um 1:02 pm

This thing is awesome! I found your blog through flickr, I must say you take some beautiful photographs.

My favorite cookie would have to be butter cookies, my grandma’s recipe, which ironically has no butter in them.

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 1:04 pm

i love me a good soft chocolate chip cookie. yum.

Tracy July 11, 2008 um 1:04 pm

Petit Buerres were always in my house growing up; it’s my dad’s favorite. My favorite cookie? Too hard to decide…chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, shortbreads…etc etc etc!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 1:07 pm

What a lovely prize! I love butter cookies of all sorts… and the nutty variations, like peacan sandies.

April July 11, 2008 um 1:08 pm

What a really, really cute gadget! I think that my favorite cookie is a shortbread cookie with a cream cheese frosting!

Jacey July 11, 2008 um 1:09 pm

That’s an adorable little tool. I am now craving shortbread. I might have to try this recipe over the weekend. As for a favorite cookie, that’s tough to choose, but I’d probably have to say my Aunt Hannah’s Snickerdoodles.

Erikita July 11, 2008 um 1:09 pm

That is one of the cutest things I’ve seen in a while. The possiblities are really . . . ENDLESS! And you can’t go wrong with delicious, buttery shortbread. One of my personal favorites!

I’ve been a long time reader but this is my first post. Hi! I’m Erika. Nice to meet you and thank you for all the lovely "food porn" you offer me! I look forward to your blog updates immensely!

Bridget July 11, 2008 um 1:10 pm

Oh my…my heart is racing just looking at how FUN that is!!! And…my name is Bridget, so it’s perfect! Keeping my fingers crossed that the random picker picks me! 🙂

And my favorite cookie….has to be a good ol' chocolate chip!

Pittsburgh Needs Eated July 11, 2008 um 1:13 pm

I’m really digging Ranger Cookies and World Peace Cookies right now. I like crispy cookies especially!

-Lisa

MyKitchenInHalfCups July 11, 2008 um 1:16 pm

Happy Anniversary!!
This cookie cutter really brought them out of the wood work!!
Making snickerdooles for my boys was always my favorite but a cookie with a shopping list would make my days now!

Rachel July 11, 2008 um 1:20 pm

You always find the niftiest things!

Cynthia July 11, 2008 um 1:24 pm

Ok, I am a complete blogging virgin. I found your site last night as I was Googling a recipe for Millionaire’s Shortbread. I found yours (clearly the best on the web) and I have been looking at your archives all night, only to find your contest this a.m. I LOVE shortbread (as evidenced by my looking for Millionaire’s). I have really liked creating my own variations…rosemary is one of my favorites. Your cookie lettering gadget is REALLY COOOL. Is it available in the U.S.?

Ashley July 11, 2008 um 1:25 pm

I love this cookie cutter!! My favorite cookie, hands down, is the snickerdoodle. Mmmm!

Patsyk July 11, 2008 um 1:29 pm

That has to be the coolest cookie gadget I have EVER seen! Pick me, pick me! 🙂

I love so many different cookies it’s hard to pick a fav… snickerdoodles, chocolate crackles, jam thumbprint cookies, chocolate chip cookies… the list is really much too long! 🙂

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 1:32 pm

Personalized cookies!!!!! need I say more..ok I will. My son would be all over these. He could have his own cookies with his name on it so his dad won’t eat them!!LOL
Although we usually make oatmeal chocolate chip or as we like to call them "would you like some oatmeal for those chocolate chip cookies?"
P.S. they are my fav cause we get my son and I get to make them together!
I’m sure we can hunker down and make shortbread just for the gag of all the word combos…hehe.

Julie Livermore July 11, 2008 um 1:33 pm

My mom’s gingersnap cookies are amazing! If my mom isn’t baking then white chocolate macadamia are pretty good too.

Meghan July 11, 2008 um 1:40 pm

That is the best cookie tool I’ve never heard of that now I’ve got to have! Generally I tend toward the very chocolate cookie (or biscotti) but my husband favors thumbprint cookies and shortbreads, so I tend to make a lot of those, too.

Chris July 11, 2008 um 1:41 pm

You have the coolest things! 🙂 Me likes!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 1:42 pm

So adorable! I bring cookies in to work once a month (my guinea pigs for new recipes) and it would be such a fun surprise for the cookies to actually say something! I love lots of different cookies, but I recently tried an Almond Blueberry cookie that I loved so that’s my current favorite. Thanks for being so sweet as to offer a giveaway!

Hi tartlette, my fellow daring baker! What a wonderful and generous gesture! I love reading your blog and your recipes keep going into my ever growing to do lists! Cookies are an area I’m getting into now. I’ve done chocolate chips and oatmeal and peanut butter but I’m dying to try shortbread cookies and your macaroons! YUM!

Thimbleanna July 11, 2008 um 1:43 pm

Oh, me, me, me….PUHLEEZZZ pick me!!! That’s the coolest little tool and would be SO much fun for cookie gifting! My FAV cookie is a frosted cranberry-orange cookie — yum, yum!

k July 11, 2008 um 1:51 pm

My favorite cookie is good old peanut butter. My favorite Xmas cookie is a walnut shortbread cookie (sandie). And if someone else is making them, my favorite is a linzertorte cookie made just like the torte, only a cookie!

cin July 11, 2008 um 1:56 pm

I love this cutter. I can see many uses for it. I love anything chocolatey and cakey. I would love to know where to get one of these cool cutters…

Naho @ Scrumptious Foods July 11, 2008 um 1:57 pm

Happy Anniversary! What a wonderful celebration! Favourite cookie…umm, for me its a tie between chocolate chip cookies and lemon shortbread. 🙂

Sunshinemom July 11, 2008 um 1:59 pm

I love them! So cool!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 1:59 pm

Oh you! You tinly little butter cookie with a message to the world… I’d like to make your babies. Oh yes….

What a great recipe, we’ll try it out and with a message imprinted………oh, can’t wait!

Laura Rebecca July 11, 2008 um 2:16 pm

This may be the COOLEST cooking gadget ever. I love it.

My favorite cookie is probably a lace cookie (aka, the florentine). After they are baked and cooled, I sandwich them together with melted dark chocolate. They are what heaven tastes like.

dan July 11, 2008 um 2:17 pm

I hope this isn’t a duplicate post, I’m really not trying to cheat… honest!

Cranberry Biscotti dipped in Dark Chocolate!

Dan

kyla drushka July 11, 2008 um 2:18 pm

wow, the cookie cutter/stamp is incredible! My favourite cookie has to be chocolate mint cookies with chocolate chips.

traci July 11, 2008 um 2:26 pm

Shortbread are my husband’s absolute favorite. I can just imagine an entire package, printed "NOM NOM NOM"

My comfort cookie has to be basic chocolate chip, as I can’t stop eating them if they are around. But I’m also a fan of crispy, chewy Snickerdoodles.

Kelly July 11, 2008 um 2:31 pm

Helen, what a sweet idea for a giveaway! Although, I’m not sure my husband will be so thrilled if I win since I already have a kitchen full of "must-have" cute gadgets!!! It’s so hard to pick a favourite cookie. I can say that my favourite cookie of the moment is a traditional chocolate chip cookie. In the summer I love to have them with homemade vanilla ice cream sandwiched between two. Yummm!

Jane July 11, 2008 um 2:31 pm

Now that is a nice one. I wonder for those of us who won’t win can find it here in the US. Another want if I don’t win.

I juse made milk chocolate cookies, pretty good.

Elizabeth July 11, 2008 um 2:34 pm

I’m completely smitten with this!!!! Why isn’t it already part of my life?!

Thanks so much for sharing (the info and the giveaway)

My fav cookie? That’s hard, but I think it a recipe for soft gingersnaps that I got from a professor that kind of a local specialty. I was never a gingersnap fan, but I can eat a huge batch of these all by myself (and the recipe does make a HUGE batch)!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 2:35 pm

I would LOVE to win this gadget. I make shortbread all the time and it would be great to make it personalized for my friends and family at Christmastime or for hostess gifts.

Jill July 11, 2008 um 2:36 pm

Love it!

Favorite Cookie: Plain vanilla drop cookies

Eleanor July 11, 2008 um 2:37 pm

Your blog is wonderful. Cinnamon sables and pecan sandies are also wonderful.

d. July 11, 2008 um 2:39 pm

world peace cookies are the best 🙂

please choose me! 🙂

Ashley July 11, 2008 um 2:44 pm

This is so sweet. I love the idea of waking someone up for breakfast in bed with a little tea and "good morning" stamped on a biscuit. My favorite cookie is a lacey oatmeal or a plain old chocolate chip chewy. Thank you!

meliass July 11, 2008 um 2:47 pm

So cute…I think my favorite cookie is a chewy molasses crinkle cookie.

LizNoVeggieGirl July 11, 2008 um 2:49 pm

Can’t go wrong with classic shortbread cookies :0)

Oooh what a fun giveaway!!!

LyB July 11, 2008 um 2:51 pm

You are so sweet to think of all your blogger friends! I love sablés cookies but my absolute favorite, easy cookie recipe has got to be the good old chocolate chip. 🙂

Tiffany @ Lattes And Life July 11, 2008 um 2:56 pm

What a neat gadget!!! My current favorite cookie is one I made last Christmas…a rich double chocolate cookie with peppermint chips. Very festive!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 3:01 pm

Wow is all I have to say, this is the greatest little invention! Using this gadget would be the second best part of making cookies, the first of course being eating the dough. As for a favorite cookie, I’m partial to a nice molasses and ginger cookie. They are thin, chewy, and oh so good.

Ben July 11, 2008 um 3:03 pm

Even though I never win anything, I am going to enter. Yay how exciting, oh, and my favorite cookie must be Mexican wedding cookies. hmmm but I don’t know, buckeyes are way up in my list, but I don’t think they are even cookies 😐

CookiePie July 11, 2008 um 3:06 pm

How generous of you to give away such a lovely item! I would love to use it on my cinnamon-hazelnut shortbread. Yum!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 3:09 pm

there is a little grocery store in paris near the École Militaire metro stop. every time we visit, we have to go to this grocery store for their store brand butter cookies. they are fantastic. we literally leave the store with 15-20 boxes of cookies.

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 3:10 pm

What a great tool! And I love butter cookies.

Cameron July 11, 2008 um 3:10 pm

Oh, my cuteness! And wouldn’t it make lovely hazelnut sandies?

Chico July 11, 2008 um 3:13 pm

Wow, I love this cookie cutter!Pick me!!
I like the shortbread(such as sablee)but I like the white chocolate x macadamia nut one also. I can’t say which one is best.
By the way, I made your "raspberry mascarpone gratin" recently. I was delicious!!!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 3:14 pm

Who doesn’t love a good shortbread cookie? Thanks for sharing this recipe. I think I’ll try it with a hint of rose essence.

I am a C H July 11, 2008 um 3:18 pm

These look heavenly—if you are in a cookie baking mood, I’d love to see a great recipe for Snickerdoodles!

Memaw's memories July 11, 2008 um 3:22 pm

Snickerdoodles are my favorite cookie. I think it’s the cinnamon and sugar mixture you roll them in, plus I like a crisp crunchy cookie.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 3:28 pm

Hi Helen! It’s really nice of you to think of getting one more of that cute gadget to give away! They’ll make cookies much better birthday presents when they’re personalised! My fave cookie would have to be the chewy on the inside, crispy on the outside choc chip cookie!

Jess July 11, 2008 um 3:34 pm

Oh dear that is adorable!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 3:37 pm

Snickerdoodles!

Coffee and Vanilla July 11, 2008 um 3:38 pm

Amazing gadget, I would love to win it but even if now I will look for it in the shops 🙂

Petit Beurre cookies… they remind me of my childhood! Me and my sister we loved them. Butter cookies are still my favourite, even better if deeped in dark chocolate with a cup of unsweetened cappuccino on a side 🙂

Have a great weekend, Margot

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 3:45 pm

I saw this on a blog too and loved it but can’t read French and couldn’t understand how and where to get it!! How exciting! I love it.

My favorite cookie is my Aunt Cookie but after her it is traditional Italian anise cookies that my Grandmother and Mother made. Light puffs of cakey goodness with just a hint of anise, draped with anise icing and my all time favorite: sprinkles! Sprinkles always make people happy!

noisy penguin July 11, 2008 um 3:47 pm

I’ve been craving oatmeal butterscotch cookies lately.

This looks like a neat tool!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 3:48 pm

Hey, I’ve been reading your blog for several weeks and I’m always amazed at your talent, both in culinary and photography. A product can be transformed into something extraordinary merely by putting a nice edge to it. I’m planning on learning that as soon as I get out from school. Oh yeah, I’m currently in a culinary school for baking and pastry and it’s definitely very inspiring to me. It’s always fun to learn the science behind why we do things in certain way.
In anyway, I haven’t really made too many cookies in my life, mainly cakes and.. more cakes.. haha… But to this point in my life, I still like the simple sugar cookie the best. I like the simplicity of it and the buttery aroma in every bite. Of course I like chocolate chip cookies too, with oats added, but you just can’t have too many of those unless you make them yourself so you can adjust the sweetness. The ones from bakeries tend to be a little on the sweet side to me.
Alright, it’s time for class. Allow me to thank you again for all the inspiring recipes and links to the rest of the culinary world. ;p

I’m not a big fan of shortbread cookies but I think those could be lots of fun on sugar cookies!

AngelaBeth July 11, 2008 um 4:06 pm

How absolutely adorable! This would DEFINITELY come in handy!! And my favorite recipe is a sugar cookie recipe that will last for months and still be as amazing as the first day you baked them! I have another sugar cookie recipe that is absolutely divine that I use more often though (my sugar cookies never make it past two days! hehehe!).

Mari July 11, 2008 um 4:16 pm

This is hands down the best cookie cutter I’ve EVER seen!!!! Oh please, gods of the random number generator, let it be me!!!

Cheryl July 11, 2008 um 4:37 pm

Oh my gosh! Imagine the cute things you can put on your cookies! I’ve only ever made Dorie’s espresso chip shortbread, but this would inspire me to get cooking. Thanks for the opportunity!

Jami July 11, 2008 um 4:42 pm

This is my favorite blog ever. I check it almost everyday. Right now I am serving in the Peace Corps in Eastern Europe and crave anything that is not cabbage or potato based! I don’t have regular access to a kitchen, but love the pictures and fantasize about preparing some great food when I come home. My favorite cookie is a shortbread that my nana and my mom make called busy day cookies. Love them, love this prize!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 4:47 pm

Those cookies are lovely! Its a pity that I can’t seem to bake this particular confection nicely. But I’m still not giving up-trying and trying till the day I make cookies consistenty. 😀 My favourite cookie is oatmeal and raisin. And it so happens that that’s the only kind of cookie that I’m really good at. 😀 😀 😀

talida July 11, 2008 um 4:49 pm

What a bundle of fun 🙂

Nadira July 11, 2008 um 4:50 pm

So cute! My favorite cookies of all time are my stepmother’s "monster cookies". They texture is just the right mix of crunchy and sticky. She makes them with whole wheat flour, oatmeal, peanut butter, and walnuts, so they have a really nutty flavor, and she’ll throw in chocolate chips or raisins so you get a sweet little surprise every few bites.

cakewardrobe July 11, 2008 um 4:50 pm

So cute!! I just made my first batch of shortbread cookies last night! If I don’t win that gadget, I’m totally buying anyway!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 4:51 pm

oh, how incredibly cute is that gizmo! my favorite cookies are fig bars…wait, are those even considered cookies? i’ve tried making them myself, but metropolitan bakery in my city of philadelphia makes them way better than i do!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 4:54 pm

Oh what a great little gadget! My favourite cookies are coconut macaroons and lemon shortbreads – yummy!!

Jessica

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 5:07 pm

I am a huge fan of the flat cookie, such as the shortbread recipe you posted that I am sure to try. I also have orange water just waiting to be put to use, so thanks for the suggestion!

Amelia July 11, 2008 um 5:16 pm

That is such a great gadget! My favorite cookies are butter cookies that are thin, crispy on the edges and just barely soft in the center, just like my grandma used to make! They’d melt in your mouth :).

Beth July 11, 2008 um 5:22 pm

Oh, I want that dealie-bob so bad!!!! And the recipe is bookmarked too. Thanks.

adli July 11, 2008 um 5:24 pm

Well, I must say my favorite would be sugee biscuits. It’s very buttery and rich from the ghee used in the recipe… hmmm.. ahhh.. 🙂

I'm Kitty! July 11, 2008 um 5:25 pm

I made your coconut cake (July 5 post) last night, and although I have yet to frost it (happening in about 5 minutes) I’ve been dreaming about it all night! Ooooh my! It looks, smells and feels supreme! Thank you!

As for cookies – I like to dabble in the artistry and I created a little one of my own I like to call campfire cookies. Yes, chocolate, marshmallows and graham cracker, but mine differ in a way that others lack. I don’t use graham cracker flour, I don’t crumble up graham crackers – mine have genuine whole, solid, crackers baked in. It’s my speciality favorite!

XanderJL July 11, 2008 um 5:25 pm

My most favorite is linzer with the jam inside, but almost anything with fruit is great, like a thumbprint jam cookies.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 5:25 pm

ooh that cookie imprinter is so clever! i have tried carving before baking, but that never works, and i have tried half cooking and carving in some letters then – but that works just as badly! fingers crossed x

well my favourite cookie…anything chocolatey particularly a recipe from a childrens Dorling Kindersley book! works prefectly everytime!!

x

Angry Asian July 11, 2008 um 5:26 pm

i think this gadget is a must- have. i’m not much of a baker but i certainly can try to bake more, and i’m sure i wcould find other uses for it!

my fave cookie: it changes but for now since i have braces, they have to be soft. as long as they’re soft, i’ll eat them.

Fifi Flowers July 11, 2008 um 5:32 pm

YUM… your email reminded me… I do not have a dessert recipe for my Napa bbq… can you reccommend something?
Also… I really would love to win! 😉
Fifi
P.S. Another sample by this evening! 🙂

nerdling July 11, 2008 um 5:32 pm

Oh my gosh, those would make the cutest graham crackers ever!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 5:36 pm

Little, sweet love notes…how wonderful! My favorite cookie is pecan shortbread.

Marjorie

Stephanie July 11, 2008 um 5:37 pm

Oh, Helen…that is simply adorable!

I think my favorite cookie…despite not really eating many these days…has to be my Mom’s sugar cookie recipe. I never cared for sugar cookies till she started making these. Cut thick, they are perfect unadorned, with tea, or frosted or iced to resemble just about anything. For our trip to the zoo, she made up a handful to look like zoo animals for Alex…zebras, lions, seals, all sorts. They are perfect cookies.
You are so sweet to do this! And a very happy 10th anniversary to you both!

Tiffany July 11, 2008 um 5:37 pm

That’s so cool!!
My favorite cookie used to be oatmeal raisin… Now I think I’d prefer nuts and cranberries in an oatmeal cookie. But I think my favorite cookie now is any sort of ginger-spiced molasses cookie… Om nom nom :3

Noki & Alex July 11, 2008 um 5:41 pm

Saw these at Il Cavoletto di Bruxelles as well & wondered what in the world or out of it could have made such *cute* petit beurres. Thank you for sharing!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 5:45 pm

Oh my goodness, this is just the cutest cookie cutter ever! And so handy for birthdays and holidays, too…! I have no hope of winning it, what with the hundreds of comments that are sure to come, but it’s definitely going on my wish list all the same. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Aimée July 11, 2008 um 5:48 pm

This is a great idea! My daughter Amelia likes to bake with me and since she is learning to read, this would be perfect! I have never met a cookie I didn’t like.

txdebanderson

Sarah R July 11, 2008 um 6:11 pm

I agree with BR – you’re so generous to have thought of us! My favourite cookie is a toss up between my mom’s shortbread cookies and my chocolate peanut butter toffee cookies. I’m a salt / sweet fan! Have yet to try the Korovas though…

Anna July 11, 2008 um 6:14 pm

My OCD party-planning self would adore this.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:14 pm

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:22 pm

My favorites are warm oatmeal chocolate chip cookies — simple to make, which is good, since they tend to dissapear so quickly.

And thanks so much for doing this!

sweetsbycaroline July 11, 2008 um 6:26 pm

Hello! I just bought a pack of LU Petit Beurre 2 days ago from the supermarket!

My all-time favorite cookie since I was a child is LU’s Paille D’or aux framboises! But I haven’t had them in 10 years since I moved to the U.S. since I can’t find them anywhere in the LA area.

Lilly July 11, 2008 um 6:26 pm

That is just so cool! I would have so much fun writing random, silly messages. Favorite cookies? That’s tough… I like them all! Well, except all chocolate ones, I’m not a big fan of those.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 6:29 pm

So cool and so sweet!!
I’m all about an almond shortbread.

I like thumbprint cookies. Where I live there is a locally owned grocery store that makes all these neat jams. I like to use those.

Rebecca July 11, 2008 um 6:42 pm

That gadget is TOO cute. As hard as it would be to pick, I think my favorite cookie is the chocolate chip cookie with walnuts in them. I love the crunch of the walnuts with the creamy chocolate and chewy cookie. Yummmmm.

Brianne Chase July 11, 2008 um 6:43 pm

For the most part, I am an equal opportunity cookie lover. But I will put aside all others for my own homemade chocolate chip cookies.

Brilynn July 11, 2008 um 6:57 pm

That is the neatest little gadget EVER!
I love all cookies… I don’t discriminate… I particularly enjoy a cookie I call Family Cookies made with, (of all things) Cornflakes… I’ve never posted about it on my blog though, I’ll have to get around to it.

Fav cookie? Snickerdoodles, of course!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 7:07 pm

My favorite cookie is shortbread, too. I’ve recently been making a version with organic brown sugar and whole wheat pastry flour. If I owned this gadget, I’d label my cookies "HEALTH FOOD" 🙂

What adorable cookies and what an awesome little cookie cutter! My favourite cookie… how can I choose just one?? Probably either a really good chocolate chip cookie, my grandma’s shortbread, or snickerdoodles.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:14 pm

yeah cookies! and typography, my two fave things!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:15 pm

These cutters have been on my to-buy list ever since I saw them a while back on an Italian blog. Very cute!
My favourite cookie would be Weesper moppen, a Dutch cookie that consists of only 3 ingredients: ground almonds, sugar and eggs.

Stephanie July 11, 2008 um 7:17 pm

COOLEST THING I’VE EVER SEEN! Wow, France has it all. I want to make cookies that say, "Not A Cookie" on them to play with peoples heads 🙂

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:18 pm

My favorite homemade cookie is oatmeal choc chip with dried cherries and toasted pecans….My favorite from the store is Le Petit Ecolier extra dark…

I just love baking cookies. My favorite is a cookie we call Cinnamon Jumbles. They are like snickerdoodles, but they are soft and puffy. Sprinkled with cinnamon and sugar. You can’t eat just one. Love your blog.

What a fun little gadget! I like all cookies, but oatmeal raisin have to be my favorite.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:40 pm

I don’t have a "favorite cookie," yet. But I live in a place famous for it’s lack of good cookies or bakery-items of any kind. Alas.

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:40 pm

My new favorite blog, discovered from the sadly now gone, Chockylit.
Favorite cookie: Oatmeal caramel bars

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:47 pm

While I know the cookies are great the best part is the kisses for your mom. I would love to have the kisses from my daughter right now. [email protected]

glamah16 July 11, 2008 um 7:49 pm

I always adore a good short bread or butter cookie. This is the coolest gadget!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:55 pm

Woot! I love it and praying that you pick me. 🙂 My favorite cookie is a hard choice to pick since I love most all, but my favorite to put together is biscotti because of its simplicity.

My favorite cookie is one my MIl makes…. a chocolate rolo cookie. I can’t believe I haven’t blogged about those yet!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 7:57 pm

i also adore every variation of shortbread i have ever tried. i will be trying this recipe soon.

Cheryl July 11, 2008 um 8:01 pm

I am new to your site but just love it! This is the coolest gadget! Where can we get one if we aren’t the lucky winner? There must be somewhere in the US that has it. What is the official name of it?

Great site!!

Very Cool!

I love all cookies especially Lebkuchen and Linzer Augen (which are filled with raspberry jam)

Cakebrain July 11, 2008 um 8:06 pm

I love any gadgets that have to do with baking! And I love cookies too! Oh, my…there are so many posts that I’ll probably not win, but oh well. It’s so kind of you to give the gadget away!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 8:07 pm

What fun! So, my favorite cookie is chocolate chip. But although I’m a huge chocolate junkie, I’m very partial to the cookie part of the chocolate chip cookie. Add dried cherries and chopped nuts and I am in heaven! Hey, I think I’ll make some tonight. Thanks for the inspiration!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 8:07 pm

What a neat little gadget! I never really gave much thought to writing on my food, and yet, this opens the door to many possibilities (subliminal messages for my husband – after all, I don’t think he looks at what he eats very much before it ends up in his mouth). Great invention, though! My favorite cookie is the snickerdoodle. Something about cinnamon and sugar that just can’t be beat.

sarahdipity July 11, 2008 um 8:19 pm

These are cutest things I’ve seen on my latest surfing of food blogs. Your blog is lovely btw.

Natalie July 11, 2008 um 8:26 pm

I guess this is the perfect opportunity to stop stalking and start commenting on your blog. I love it! As so far as the cookies, I can’t pick between my two favorites: mint chocolate chip and shortbread!

My Sweet & Saucy July 11, 2008 um 8:31 pm

My favourite cookie is oatmeal raisin. Just perfectly balanced between crunchy and soft.

You are definitely too popular to have an easy choice ;-). If I type quick enough my comment will be #252… and counting.

Brigitte-Keks – sounds like home to me, so one more you did not lose with all the languages.

Your Mom should be included though – what are the odds of winning? By Sunday you might have a million comments on your hands. Maybe I should get a lottery ticket for her?

Alexandra, who is amazed that you get anything done (except churning ice cream at 6am 😉

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 9:14 pm

What a fantastic little machine!

My favorite cookie…sadly, I don’t even know the name of it. The story here is that when I was younger, I used to get very upset that everyone else could eat the baklava and other Arab desserts that were served at the annual festival, but I couldn’t because I was allergic to nuts. One of my mom’s friends, upon hearing about this, decided to make me a special cookie that she hadn’t made in several years, since coming to America from Lebanon. She had to call her sisters to get the recipe. It was delicious and I always felt grateful to her for giving me something so special. She made these cookies for me a couple of times. She showed my mother once how to make them but my mother hates baking and cooking, and she never bothered to write the recipe down. And sadly, she passed away about six years ago. So I have no idea how or where to get this recipe – all I know about it is that it was made without nuts and lots of love. 🙂

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 9:18 pm

Lisa July 11, 2008 um 9:46 pm

ooohhhh, I would love to make lots of cookies and use them as little message cards!!
Favourite cookie: my great-aunt’s housekeeper used to make these little round butter cookies with coconut. Just yesterday I was wondering how she used to make them… they were the best. Those and big round chewy oatmeal and raisin cookies – yum!

My favorite cookie at the moment is an Alice Medrich chocolate cookie with yogurt, it´s like a cookie and a brownie combined: heaven. And a similar recipe but with lemon zest and chocolate chunks is also at the top of the list.

My favorite cookie is my recipe for a German Chocolate Cookie, it’s yummy.

janjan July 11, 2008 um 11:00 pm

I’ve been looking for imprinting tools like these for time out of mind!

My favorite cookie: banana walnut oatmeal chocolate chip. Sounds like too much, but it isn’t. It all melds together.

Chris July 11, 2008 um 11:09 pm

My favorite cookie has to be milk chocolate chip. But shortbread’s delicious, too. Really, anything sweet and simple is fine in my book!! 🙂

Christina July 11, 2008 um 11:12 pm

What a clever idea for a cookie cutter! Odd that I was thinking of making shortbread today.

My favorite cookie is a bizcocho, an anise-cinnamon-wine Mexican cookie, the real "Mexican wedding" cookie. Actually, it’s made for any celebration conceivable!

PheMom July 11, 2008 um 11:16 pm

Very fun! Happy Anniversary to you both! Today is actually my 10 year anniversary with my hubby too (of when we met and I knew I would marry him). That is a great little giveaway – I’ll keep my fingers crossed!

Unknown July 11, 2008 um 11:20 pm

Oh my gosh, what an awesome little gadget!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:42 pm

That is one of the coolest cookie cutter inventions I’ve seen!
My favorite cookie would definitely have to be gingerbread. And not just at Christmas. I think they are great and perfect any time of the year. Then again, I think that about all cookies…

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:51 pm

I simply adore Petits Beurre! I’m always waiting for the LU biscuits to go on sale so I can satisfy my cravings. 🙂 Given that, my absolute favourite cookie is "Sablés Korova" by Dorie Greenspan, adapted from Pierre Hermé Paris. They are just divine, and thinking about them makes me want to make some right now!

Anonymous July 11, 2008 um 11:56 pm

Hi Tartelette! I’m such a mercenary… It’s the first time I leave a comment and only for the cute cutter. But I admire your work and you are a big inspiration for a little pastry chef like me… Congratulations on your book deal (it was time!!) and happy anniversary!

I think my favourite cookies are the coconut ones that I made yesterday (but i think my love will last a week…).

Kisses

Patricia Scarpin July 12, 2008 um 12:23 am

You are so generous, Helen!
And this gadget is just adorable…
My favorite cookies are lemon cookies, closely followed by snickerdoodles. 🙂

Gina July 12, 2008 um 12:24 am

Oh how fun! I have a few favorites – homemade Snickerdoodles, my husband’s sugar cookies (his mother’s recipe) and the Lactation-Boosting chocolate chip-oatmeal-flaxseed cookies I have been making since my son was born 5 months ago (they really are yummy!)

Victory Pantherwolf July 12, 2008 um 12:38 am

Oh my that is an exciting cookie cutter! I love a nice violet shortbread… but I wouldn’t say no to a good old fashioned chocolate chip cookie!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 12:39 am

I pretty much love every single kind of cookies, but I my favorites ones are the "Mantecadas" my Spaniard grandmother use to make for us. They are a traditional spanish treat made with lard, and they are absolutely delicious.
Marijoe

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 12:41 am

That is really a neat-o little gadget! My favourite cookie is an oatmeal raisin variety, the recipe which was given to me by my grandmother. I’ve sadly lost it, but I do recall that it calls for mostly brown sugar and twice as much cinnamon than is normally used. I usually soak the raisins in a mixture of orange juice and cointreau beforehand, don’t know why, but maybe it adds a little je ne sais quoi type of mystique to quotidienne oatmeal cookies!
Then again, maybe not. Who knows?

Acre July 12, 2008 um 12:47 am

Oh, fun, giveaway!

My favorite cookies are the gaufrette that my (very Belgian) family makes for every possible occasion. I make them using my grandmother’s old waffle-iron, which she got from her mother, which must be heated over the burner in order to make the cookies one at a time. They take forever to make and are worth every minute.

maybelles mom July 12, 2008 um 12:48 am

Well, with almost 300 entries, the chance is bad. But, anyway, my favorite cookie? I love a gingerbread cookie that is thin and crispy. thanks for your generosity too.

Jeanine – The Baking Beauties July 12, 2008 um 12:59 am

That is the coolest cookie cutter I have EVER seen!! PLEASE let me win! lol
My favorite cookie is a mocha pecan chip cookie…yummy! Kinda like a chocolate chip cookie, with mocha in the cookie part, and pecans added. Delicious!

Toni July 12, 2008 um 1:04 am

This is just the best thing I’ve ever seen! My favorite cookie? Where do I begin???

Oh my gosh my boyfriend’s mom makes these cookies named Southern Sin…graham crackers, brown sugar, pecans, and LOTS of butter. Amazing!

Bri July 12, 2008 um 1:27 am

That is the coolest thing I have ever seen! I would have to say that my very favorite cookie is the super thick and chewy frosted sugar cookies that my mom usually only makes at Christmas time. Yum!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 1:30 am

Wow, this is adorable! And my favorite type of cookie is anything with lemon 🙂

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 1:43 am

What a wonderful tool!
My favorite cookie is the humble shortbread. However, with my tea, I do like petit buerre!

Nicole July 12, 2008 um 1:45 am

Okay, I think I might NEED one of these! Favorite cookie? It doesn’t have a name but it’s chocolate, toffee bits, oatmeal and fresh cranberries. YUMMY!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 1:47 am

Awesome! I would love it! I don’t know, I’m a traditionalist- I like chocolate chip cookies and my mom’s lemon pecan cookies with a hershey kiss in the middle!
-Kelsey H.

Cindy July 12, 2008 um 1:49 am

My favorite cookie is called a Hungarian Delight. It has a shortbread top and bottom with raspberry jam between and a glob of chocolate on the top. They came from a bakery in Cleveland, Ohio which is no longer in business.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 1:49 am

I cannot believe I am seeing your blog today. I have been looking for those cookie cutter for a long long time. I think the first time I heard about it was on another blog. I don’t know how to get them. I would be glad to hear how to get it. I am sure my daughter will love those petit beurre. She will turn one year old soon and would like to make her first cookies with her name on it.

Steph F. July 12, 2008 um 2:22 am

Oh, I love your blog. Congratulations on the book.

My favorite cookies are definitely madeleines. I’m so in love with them.

Katie B. July 12, 2008 um 2:36 am

Wickedly cute! I’m easy, I like chocolate chip… but I have been known to swoon over butter cookies and chocolate-dipped coconut cookies alike…

Thanks so much for thinking of us!

BrooklynDuck July 12, 2008 um 2:48 am

Shortbread cookies are indeed yummy!
I can still think back over 2 decades ago to a cookie my mother brought home once from a bakery. It was Easter time and it was shaped like a duck, or a chick… I don’t know, some small yellow thing. Of course, to little ole me, the cookie seemed huge. And it was all mine. And it was a delicious butter cookie with some intensely yellow and buttery icing. I haven’t a clue where the cookie was from… I never had another one from that place. But I still remember it to this day. Delicious.
As I type this, my boyfriend is actually in the kitchen whipping up a batch of the cookies featured in the New York Times this Wednesday. YUM!
Your site is awesome. Thank you!

Biscoitaria July 12, 2008 um 2:55 am

I’m madly in love with the little gadget! Too bad here in Brazil they are impossible to be bought. Well, my favorite cookies are "goiabinhas", kind of a sugar cookie with guava filling, very good!

Jacque July 12, 2008 um 3:03 am

How clever! Where do people come up with this stuff.

Favorite cookies? geez, so hard to pick. I’m going to say the fresh apple cookies I blogged about last month. Love me some cinnamon and apples!

@the_whisk_affair July 12, 2008 um 3:04 am

ooh oohh a giveaway!!! i guess my favourite cookies (out of the ones i have made) are the thumbprint cookies with nutty crispy outsides and the thumbprint filled with gooey preserves! yumm!! 🙂

Elly July 12, 2008 um 3:04 am

That is one of the cutest and coolest things I’ve ever seen! You are too sweet to think of your readers. I *think* my favorite cookies are melomakarona, which are these greek honey cookies with walnuts and syrup. Mmmm..

Sara July 12, 2008 um 3:05 am

What a cool gadget! My favorite cookies are either slightly crunchy, not soft, chocolate chip oatmeal, or a good, soft, sugar cookie (lucky I make one).

Laura July 12, 2008 um 3:10 am

Happy anniversary! While they were underwhelming in flavor, biscotti alla birra were quite popular with my friends for the novelty of baking with Shiner. Goes great with queso.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 3:17 am

wow, i love this toy! my fave cookies to make are spritz and oatmeal chocolate chip, but my favorite to eat would have to be peanut butter blossoms.

thea

Maggie July 12, 2008 um 3:30 am

I love that cookie cutter! My favorite shortbread has candied ginger in it.

Wendy July 12, 2008 um 3:32 am

How cute! I have to say that my favorite cookies might be madelines. I’ve been reading Proust lately, so blame it on that.

Jenny July 12, 2008 um 3:32 am

Wow look at the number of comments already!

Well here goes… our favorite cookies are oatmeal raisin and ginger cookies. Neither of which is good for printing on but oooh so tasty. I do make shortbread type cookies, with and without kids, and love the idea of being able to put an edible note in my kids lunch boxes during the school year (and cut down on liter at the same time.)

So this might be so popular that you might have to call your Mom back and have her order you a bunch more for people who don’t win! I know I’d buy one.

Lel July 12, 2008 um 3:34 am

This is such a fun little gadget! I’m a big shortbread fan.

bandwidow July 12, 2008 um 3:39 am

Hooray! Favorite cookie is without a doubt a peanut butter oatmeal with semi-sweet chocolate chips – frozen.

Feeba July 12, 2008 um 3:48 am

The cookies I like the best are the ones I make the best because I’ve had the most practice– chocolate chip. My dad loves them and he’s hard to shop for, so every birthday, Father’s Day, and Christmas he gets a batch. He and I both like them chewy– so that after you eat a few your jaw aches. Mmm!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 4:41 am

Double chocolate cookies are my weakness, but with this set i’d learn to love sugar cookies

wombat July 12, 2008 um 5:24 am

WOW! this is so COOL!

My favourite cookie is macadamia nut chocolate chip cookie and Short bread.

Sally July 12, 2008 um 5:29 am

How wonderful of you to do this. Thank you, so cool.
I would walk over broken glass to get at Polenta Shortbread Cookies, with *real* butter too.
Again THANK YOU, from way *Down Under*.

Hi, i’m with the fire department. Someone reported a blog post with 325 comments. Now that’s a serious fire hazard Mad’am!.. We have to be careful here. Where do you keep your fire extinguishers?

Oh and by the way, my favorite cookies are the Sables Breton. 😉

rusvaplaukė July 12, 2008 um 6:12 am

Yum yum, delicious cookies, oh my!

My current favorite cookies have to be Dorrie Greenspan’s Molasses Cookies (don’t remember the full name, though). They’re soft and chewy and crispy around the edges and just the right sweetness!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 6:44 am

Thanks for being so thoughtful to your readers. i love chocolate cookies. the more chocolate the better. i love them fudgy, goey and definitely bittersweet.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 6:46 am

That seems like a fun device. My current favorite cookies are macarons, do they really count as cookies?

Lore July 12, 2008 um 6:51 am

Yay, now this is indeed a cute gadget to have around in the kitchen…I’m thinking biscuit scrabble and stuff right now :D. Actually my favourite biscuit is Petit Beurre since it literally melts instantly in your mouth. I also have another favourite cookie which resembles to a flûte, only shorter and sweet…I only had it once and have no idea what the name is…maybe you could help me.
Moms are THE BEST :D.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 6:58 am

Wow! This is the cutest and coolest cake gadget I’ve stumbled across in a long time! I tried googling somewhere I can buy it (I’m in Australia) but all the search results came up with German pages. Sigh. Can you please please PLEEEASSSSE let me know where I can get my hands on one? It gives me tingles thinking about what I could make with that! 😀

p.s. my favourite cookie is chocolate chip! yum!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 7:00 am

What a terrific gadget!! My favourite cookie would be oatmeal, nut and raisin which I add choc chips and cherries too. Feels very healthy when you eat it!

Unknown July 12, 2008 um 7:06 am

That is so cool. As a cookie cutter collector I MUST have one. Since I never win anything I need to know where to get one "over there." (I know someone in Paris, perhaps possible.

My favorite cookie is a Swedish almond cookie, 2 rich, buttery cookies sandwiched with currant jelly and iced with a thin glaze. Everyone else I bake for prefers my 2nd favorite, Swedish Cream Wafers, 2 feather light puffy discs sandwiched with butter cream. Both are incredibly tedious and delicious. (No, I’m not the slightest bit Scandinavian, they just make great cookies!)

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 7:11 am

How awesome! I’m pretty sure it wouldn’t work with my favourite ANZAC biscuits, though.. 🙁

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 8:04 am

My favorite cookies have always been simple ones.

But then there is the ever-amazing Caramel Delite. My god, could I go through a box.

I would definitely love one of these to mess around with when I’m baking.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 8:44 am

My favorite cookie is a Lacy Chocolate Oatmeal wafer – two toffee-ish wafers with the thinnest smear of chocolate, from Nick Malgieri’s Cookies Unlimited. TDF!

Love the cutter – I need one of those! I wonder when they’ll start selling it in the US…?

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 8:54 am

Hi there Ms Tartlette! Heart-shaped jam cookies are my best buddies in the cookie kingdom because they simply remind you of all the people that love you and whom i’d love to thank using personalised cookies if if only i had one of your lovely alphabet cookie cutters! 🙂 continue to spread the love with your lovely creations honeY!

ooh, my favourite cookie has to be chocolate chip! with or without nuts!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 10:41 am

Hi there and happy anniversary, hope you had a wonderful celebration! I remember the LU cookies, I used to eat them when I was younger, the plaim and the chocolate covered ones! Favorite cookies? hmm… well, I think I’d choose cinnamon cookies (the ones with cinnamon in the dough, not the plain ones that are just rolled in cinnamon) because I love that flavour and Anna’s Chocolate Mint Thins (which are the only cookies I ever buy!) because it feels like i’m eating After Eight Chocolates!! Love Them! haha 🙂

Amy July 12, 2008 um 11:29 am

Oh, I love this! My favorite cookie is a toss up between shortbread and snickerdoodles.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 11:30 am

Hi
I love double choc cookies!
Fingers crossed!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 11:40 am

Oh, my favorite cookie. That’s a really tough one. I think right now I would have to say chocolate chip, although I’ve gone through snickerdoodle and mexican wedding cookie phases. It would probably be pretty hard to print something on one of those kinds of cookies, though. What a cool little gadget!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 1:04 pm

Of course I would love to win this, I could use it when I make alfajores! As if I need another reason to fill a cookies sandwich with dulce de lece:o) My favorite cookie, though, is a pumpkin cookie with nuts, raisins, and icing. mmmmmmm
love the blog!

Chris The Baker July 12, 2008 um 1:53 pm

Such a fun gadget! I could use it on my Earl grey shortbread cookie recipe, so people won’t have to crack their brains wondering what that familiar flavour is.

Kimi July 12, 2008 um 2:05 pm

What a cool gadget!
Favorite cookie, hmm, I think that would be a warm sugar cookie right out of the oven (drooling now).
I would soooo love to win this. I host a group of neighbor gals once a month for Stitch n Bitch. How cool would it be to make them my lemon lavendar shorbreads all stamped?
I am keeping my fingers and toes crossed. Thanks for the drawing!

I made these delicious chocolate butter cookies this Christmas from a recipe out of some cooking magazine I cannot remember right now. But they were delicious – rich, chewy, with a hint of coffee. I had a hard time giving them away.

Unknown July 12, 2008 um 2:23 pm

This is so cute I can’t stand it. I’m already imagining the possibilities! Favorite cookie? I am paralyzed with indecisiveness though Millionaire’s shortbread, chocolate chip, or Espresso Sea Salt are recent smiles.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 2:42 pm

That is so cool, I can imagine it now, making little wedding favors with our names on yummy little cookies, our guest would love it!

My favorite cookie is a brown sugar cookie. It’s so simple yet flavorful.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 3:10 pm

My favorite cookies are a chocolate sable with a hint of sea salt in them, called World Peace Cookies. Delicious! The recipe is in Dorie Greenspan’s Baking book. Congratulations on your book too. i’m looking forward to it.

I go through cookie phases, so it’d be difficult for me to pick just one favorite cookie. Today is a hot day, so I’d want to drink something cold…like lemonade or iced tea. A lemon-lavender shortbread would hit the spot with that.

When it’s freezing cold out and I want a steaming cup of spicy chai, a molasses cookie is the perfect thing…so long as it’s gigantic and very chewy. 🙂

Enza July 12, 2008 um 3:48 pm

How adorable!!! Ok, If I had to pick my favorite cookie, it would have to be snickerdoodles!

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 3:51 pm

THIS is the most awesome gadget I have ever seen 🙂

I never met a cookie I didn’t like…lately I’m really into Madeleines. This gadget is so up my alley it’s not even funny!!…WORDS and COOKIES, my two favourite things! This is so nice of you 🙂

Michelle July 12, 2008 um 4:08 pm

My all time favorite cookie is my Great Aunt’s Cream Cheese Cookies. But my favorite shortbread cookie is a recipe a friend gave me, it’s her Mom’s recipe. So simple but the best shortbread recipe I’ve never tried!

Thank you for sharing such a great cookie cutter and for all the wonderful recipes you have posted for us. My favorite all time cookie would be the italian pizzelle. It brings back great memories of both my grandmother and mother baking when I was younger. This is also a recipe/cookie that I bake for my kids and one cookie that they enjoy as much as I do.

Kendall July 12, 2008 um 4:48 pm

My favorite cookies? My mother’s chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. This post has me craving them so badly right now.

I love your blog though. I don’t speak French, so I enjoy learning a tiny bit more. Alas, I speak English and Spanish instead. Oh well.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 7:57 pm

Hi!
I just started baking this year – I’d love to make these for my mom, who also loves to bake :D. She gets a little disgruntled about having to share the kitchen with a teenager… maybe these will change her mind?

Her triple chocolate-snowball cookies are my favourite. They have white chocolate, dark chocolate and slivered almonds.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 7:58 pm

WHOOPS I forgot to add cocoa!

Sara July 12, 2008 um 8:06 pm

My favourite cookies would have to be my Nannie’s chocolate balls!

What a fantastic idea! I’d probably have to say my favourite cookie is good old chocolate chip!

Lisa R-R July 12, 2008 um 11:02 pm

I tried a new cookie this week – Phoenix egg rolls from Macau. Pretty interesting – not overwhelmingly sweet, flaky texture and coconut filling.
Thanks for hosting such a terrific contest! I can picture my almost 7 year old niece planning the cookie text …

Unknown July 12, 2008 um 11:03 pm

My favorite cookie has to be chocolate chip oatmeal.
I’d love this thing-I make a lot of shortbread for sweetie’s friends as one of them is allergic to eggs and this would be a bunch of fun with that group.

Anonymous July 12, 2008 um 11:04 pm

I love your blog…it’s frequently my go-to when I have the urge to make something. The cookies are so cute!

Kendall July 12, 2008 um 11:27 pm

Bess July 12, 2008 um 11:53 pm

Shortbread cookies might be my personal favorite — so simple, so rich. My favorite impressive cookie, on the other end of the spectrum, is the Mexican chocolate cookie, with chopped Mexican hot chocolate, cayenne, and black pepper.

Jessica July 12, 2008 um 11:56 pm

What a fun little gadget! I love shortbread cookies dipped in chocolate!

Kristen July 13, 2008 um 12:21 am

What a fun gadget!!
As for my favorite cookie, I’m not sure that I could pick just one. I love the basic chewy chocolate chip with walnuts or buttery spritz cookies. I also love almond biscotti, those are probably number one on my list today.

gail July 13, 2008 um 12:57 am

Love your blog and wonderful recipes! Hard to pick one favorite cookie, but an all time favorite that is a family recipe would be the Italian Pizzelle.

Unknown July 13, 2008 um 3:29 am

wow so there are a ton of other comments but why not submit mine as well… and I would say my favorite cookie… tough since there’s so many new ones I want to try… atie between these crisp cinnamon circles that are half coated in semi-sweet chocolate, or these Maida Heatter cookies called Chocolate Cracks. I really don’t know if the name is rom their appearance or their crack-like addictive properties… either way, very good.

Love your blog, Helen although I rarely comment because it’s just not my thing. Thanks or all the inspiration!

Annette Tan July 13, 2008 um 4:10 am

O my god! What a brilliant cookie cutter set. Do you know how I can buy one?

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 4:23 am

I love personalising my cupcakes, cakes and cookies. What better way to do it then to print it in? =)

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 10:43 am

I’d love to have that even tho I am in far away India!

My fav cookie is called "Shrewsbury". Made right here in Pune, its a gorgeous buttery thing quite like a shortbread I guess…

Krista Richards Mann July 13, 2008 um 12:41 pm

This is adorable! I love the idea of leaving notes for the children on their cookies! I love lemon flavoring, and almond, oh and vanilla (of course) – cardamon is delicious… and just sugar (oh my!)

carvedinmarble July 13, 2008 um 12:41 pm

Awesome gadget!
Favorite cookie? It’s hard to beat shortbread. And especially with something cute written on it!

Kitt July 13, 2008 um 12:55 pm

405 comments! That’s daunting. But I will throw my hat into the ring nevertheless; that set is too perfect! Cookies and typography are a winning combination, n’est-ce pas?

Choosing my winning cookie is just as daunting; I love so many. I choose the paper-thin butter cookies my great-great-aunt used to make that I haven’t eaten for 35 years. The recipe died with her, alas, but they’re still my favorite.

Joanna Schmidt July 13, 2008 um 1:23 pm

My favorite cookie….hmm. my favorite this month is the Pepperidge farm coconut Brussels.

I prefer homemade, of course, and maybe then, I’ll take the Mexican Wedding Cookies. droooooool

My favorite cookie is green pea cookies. Very popular here especially during chinese new year.

Thanks,
Wendy C

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 2:41 pm

What fun!

My all-time favorite is a date filled cookie. You know, the kind that has a roll-out sugar cookie base that is folded over a filling of cooked dates with a hint of orange peel.

My sister and I both love them.

A small plate of those, some good coffee, time to talk, and there’s a little bit of heaven in our day. 🙂

Tom July 13, 2008 um 2:43 pm

I love the intrinsic simplicity of traditional French cuisine, and have been reading much about it as of late. Win or not, I will be trying these cookies this week!

Bonne chance!

Anna July 13, 2008 um 4:51 pm

Ohhh, I think I’ll have to get me one of these even if I don’t win XD. So cool!

My favourite cookies are Martha’s outrageous chocolate cookies, oddly enough, cause I’m not usually a chocolate cookie gal (I usually pick a plain base with additions). But they truly are ohsogood.

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 5:03 pm

oooooh – how cute. I would love to win this so that I can use it to make cookies for my step-daughters' wedding.

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 5:32 pm

Ooh! Such a wonderful toy. 🙂

My favorite cookie is a Japanese treat. It’s a soft raisin shortbread cookie that is deliciously buttery and crumbly at the same time. Mmm mmm good. Too bad they only make these so deliciously in Japan…

Sonya July 13, 2008 um 5:44 pm

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 6:17 pm

Wow, that’s a really adorable tool! I love how it adds a lovely, personal touch to the cookies.

Gosh, there are a lot of cookies that I adore, but I think oatmeal raisin would have to be my favorite cookie. I just love the texture when you bite into it. It’s soft, chewy and it has that slight "crunch" from the oats, and a nice touch of squishy-sweetness from the raisins :]

Aimee July 13, 2008 um 6:23 pm

Wow, what a fantastic gadget! My favorite cookies are pfeffernusse…my grandmother’s recipe from her German mother! 🙂

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 6:53 pm

Such an adorable idea! I found your blog when I got back into baking not too long ago and I’ve been addicted ever since.

My favorite cookie has always been the butterball. Biting into one makes it feel like the holidays to me.

OMG! SO wonderful! I’d love to make imprinted cookies! Especially for my friend’s upcoming wedding. Personally, my favorite cookies are shortbread… until my friend from Lancaster County, PA showed me her family’s recipe for snickerdoodles… now it’s a toss up.

Stroudster B July 13, 2008 um 7:11 pm

Can’t say I don’t love a good kitchen gadget. My favorite cookies this time of year are chocolate dipped shortbread. Working around to making them myself.

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 7:13 pm

That is a cool little gadget. Okay, if I have to pick my favorite cookie I would say that it is a toss up between a homemade Anise Pizzelle or Italian Wedding Cookies. Trying to pick one cookie is just near impossible.

Carey July 13, 2008 um 7:37 pm

My grandmother would make these cookies for me every fall. It was the only time of year she thought we could enjoy the buttery goodness. If I was lucky enough to win the "cookie typewriter" I would make these cookies with her name on them for my own children. Helen, I love how you are always thinking of your readers! Thanks!

Anonymous July 13, 2008 um 7:40 pm

Thanks for the product link Helen! I remember seeing this on a French blog a while ago, but somehow I couldn’t figure out where and how to buy it. It’s so incredibly cute!

allison July 13, 2008 um 7:56 pm

What a cute tool…I can think of many uses and phrases.

My favorite cookie is my family’s perfected Scottish Shortbread Cookie. Unfortunately, I have not yet mastered the art of mixing flour and butter like my mom and grandma. I still have to ask my mom to make them for me or to fix what I have wronged. 🙁
Practice makes perfect, though, and I do like eating my trials.
Good thing I can bake lots of other things or I’d be a hungry person.

-allison

LG July 13, 2008 um 7:56 pm

My favorite cookie by far would have to be Jumbo Gingersnaps made from an old Good Housekeeping recipe I snagged from my mother’s recipe box. They are tender yet slightly crisp and always delicious.

Awesome toy! Perfect for printmakers who do letterpress. Letterpressed cookies!

My fave cookie is a traditional sugar cookie with rainbow sugar crystals on top. mmm.

That’s so awesome! You could make a new spin on a fortune cookie. I’d use them on one of my favorite cookies, simple shortbread. And I love those LU cookies, too.

That gadget is too cool (and versatile)!

PS – My favorite cookies are most definitely soft and chewy oatmeal raisin!

My favorite cookies, hands down, are macaroons from Ladurée, especially rose and pistachio, accompanied by a cup of cafe creme.

In case this give-away is still open! My favourite cookie is Chocolate Chip and Pecan cookies! I will be the happiest woman if I win this. A little exaggerating, I know!

And happy anniversary! 10 years is a long time in this day and age. May there be many more 10 years for the 2 of you!

What an amazing prize! My all time favourite cookies are chocolate chip cookies made by my aunt in Rochester. I have been begging her for the recipe for years, but she still hasn’t given it to me! In second place are cookies called *mostaciole*, an Abruzzese specialty that I can’t get enough of whenever I go to my husband’s home town!

I know I’m too late for the contest, but I wanted to add my favorite cookie to the list. = )

My great-grandmother made a molasses cookie that was soft and chewy. She passed the recipe on to her children, who passed it to their children who passed it to their children. We all call them Nana Cookies and I love them because they remind me of my grandmother and our family tradition.

Thanks for the info Anon. I just ordered one from ebay. Can’t wait to get it!

LUV IT how hot is this cookie cutter and writer. Cool ultra cool.

I really like TIM TAMS (an Australian old time delight) it’s a chocolate coated sandwich biscuit with chocolate cream filling. It’s quite definitely the food of the Gods. Not just a chocolate, not just a biscuit, but a drink straw as well if you know how to use it!

Now there are a few ways to eat these little suckers……. My personal favourite is licking and sucking all the chocolate from the outside, separating the biscuits, licking the cream filling and then lastly eating the biscuit. Another thoroughly enjoyable way if you are a coffee/tea drinker is to bite off each end and then suck your coffee/tea through the middle of the biscuit….quite delicious!!!!

Salut Helen! I just got a set like this in the mail, I got it on the spanish ebay. It’s really cute, I’ve used it allready and actually used your recipe, since I figure you’d be a speciallist in petit buerre being french! I’ve made cookies for my aunt’s b’day with her name on it (Helena), and I think it was the present she most loved. The Helena cookies were a hit! So thanks for sharing! Have a nice weekend!

I found this cookie stamp in Toronto a couple of weeks ago. I have used it on cut-out sugar cookies for Easter..personalised cookies for the kids. Everyone was so impressed!
I have seen Wilton’s version of it but it is very limited and the letters are about 2-3cm in size. Wilton also has made up phrases but again, just a few standard ones. The cookie stamp is much more fun!

I would love to get one of those, but I am not sure how 🙁
Any idea how I can get them?
